Posted - 18/02/2010 : 12:08:52 Hi all!
What everyone been up too? Been quiet on here for a while.
As well as my recent AAxtreme 15" china purchase, just got my AAX 10" splash and 7" HHX Evolution splash in the post
Not sure i like the AAX at all (might sell that one on) but im dead chuffed with the HHX one! Got a neat little gibraltar 4" cymbal stacker for my bell to go on too, will have that just above the ride bell so i can use both.

Posted - 10/03/2010 : 11:41:24 Lee - im guessing it sounded bad?
I was looking at all these custom and bright looking snares, but then watched some drums store demos and youtube footage and settled for my tama 12x4 metalworks.
Didnt want to be stuck with something that looked cool but sounded terrible

Posted - 10/03/2010 : 02:02:59 I sent for an Orange County 14"x8" chrome snare drum, it had a band of 8 drilled micro holes each side of the middle ridge, it looked stunningly beautiful, it went on the bay within two days,,,

Posted - 10/03/2010 : 01:21:18 I do like it ,its very similar to the ludwig black beauty, all i did with mine was change the batter head on it,it does have a massive tuning range with it being a deep drum you will be impressed.

Posted - 09/03/2010 : 15:50:00 I knew I got a good deal - it's nice to be reminded now and then....
So... the $64,000 question: do you like the snare? I know a few guys over on drumforum.org who bought the snare just to flip it straight back out on eBay or craigslist, and when they got it, they couldn't resist hitting it - they are now telling me that it's staying in their set up.....
Using the rhythm method, I can bang all night long..... Mapex, Premier 2000 snare, Zildjian, Vic Firth, Evans.... http://www.myspace.com/riserlive |

Posted - 08/03/2010 : 12:00:40 My new snare just turned up, and it's looking very, very nice indeed.
Back story again - ordered a Pork Pie BOB (14 x 6.5, Brass shell, black chrome finish, chromed tube lugs) back in November from the US at a stoopid price ($700 down to $79.99) and it's taken this time for them to get it to me. first time I've actually bought a NEW new snare, and it's been a real pain waiting so long for it.
But now it's here, and I have to say it's a fine looking drum. really can't wait till later to get it tuned and played..... Practice on Wednesday, and gig on Saturday coming up!
It's nice getting new toys......

Posted - 26/02/2010 : 11:39:58 Hello Lee
The Pellwoods come from czech republic, was in contact with an endoresment guy who sent me a big block of 5A hornbeams, also got some heavy metal, 5C and hotrod style models.
If you search google you might find some odd little music shops stocking them. They are about 7 to 9 pounds a pair, unless you buy the B-line (like the Nova concept) sticks which are about 4 quid.
I really love them because they are less top end heavy and the acorn tips are a bit smoother round the egdes than vic firths
www.pellwood.com click the link to the site wirtten in english haha, its a little english flag

Posted - 26/02/2010 : 01:33:04 Where did you get the Pellam sticks from Em,, i think it's ok to ask this question as no store seems to stock them,, i'm using Nova A's at the moment which are Vic Firth seconds,, the only difference i can see between them is that some of the wood grain is darker, this doesn't seem to make them perform any less and the £7.50 a pair ones isn't a guarantee that they will last any longer,,, i got them in a dozen pair pack in America for $39.00 which makes them around £2.30 a pair,,
