the pacific CX kit is amazing, I have had mine for about a year now!! it gigs really well and because i am about the only one in huntingdon (i think) to have one it gets alot of attention from other drummers! i am just about to rack it up in the next couple of weeks!! it sounds really nice at low end tuning! it also goes well with my lovely istanbul's

i had trouble choosing what kit to buy at first, the amount of kits that are availabe around £900 i was really stuck to chose! but i think i made the right decison!! my friend has just gone and got a really nice tama for just over £900 last week!!!

is you're snare really over the top with high-end and an overload of crack?

because my schools drum kit is the CX and the toms and bass are very nice when new heads are put on it and i've spent a few music lessons tuning it. but then after about a week it dies from the abuse.
but i've never been able to tame the snare. i really don't like it. i think it muight be to do with the 5" depth.

It's a drummin' thang!

I played the Yamaha Tour series with birch and mahogany shells from 1983 up until last fall when I bought the PDP LX with maple shells. Now I will never part with my old school Yamahas even though they're a bit tired, the sound is clean and very bright. I am very happy with the PDP LX. Their sound is full and explosive the clear gloss finish is absolutely beatiful. I can easily make these drums speak many different languages. As with all kits, you'll need to ditch the cheap heads and buy a good head of your choice. Personally on the PDP LX I like the Evans G2 clear on top and clear resonants on the bottoms, my snares always get a middle weight coated for the batter, this gives more crack and lends to brushwork. My cymbal of choice is the old A. Zildgians. Again I couldn't be more happy with my PDPs, Here in the states they retail for $1700.00 and can be had for $1150.00, a real nice kit for little money.

You've not heard my Stage Custom

And just to point out (as we have threads about spelling on here) it's Pacific not Pasific...

Yamaha Drums... Sabian Cymbals... The perfect combination...

You must of heard a bad one, the ones ive herd sound infanetly better than a stage custom or export anyday, IMO.

yea there is like 1 line of drums, the CX LX and MX, the only thing that changes is what finish or wrap they have and what series hardware they comne with, and there is the birch kits which are the FX and FS i think, im not sure about thier names but they are the same, only the finish changes

A...guy that used to play in a percussion ensemble I played in had a Pacific something or other....and it was actually pretty decent. But I wouldn't really rank it above a stage custom or export...

I'm not all that clear on Pacifics hierarchy of drums and stuff....but I think now they pretty much have one line of drums...with different names which signify slightly different features, but they're all maple shells? Sorry if that's wrong, but it's something along those lines...

But I think that's after a big change, because when I first heard of Pacific kits (before they were rebranded PDP) they had some****lines and good lines...

the pasifics sound flippin awsome IMO. Realy nice phat beefy sound, for the price thier fantabulus too i preferd the maple to the birch though sounded quite better. Seariuosly they are worth considering. Better than a pearl anyday

i did try a coated head on my 14 floor tom, it didnt sound too good but i figured that was because i put a coated ambasador on thier that had been on my other snare for like 5 years, i might stick too all clears, but id rather have the option open , if the coated on top sounds bad ill just switch the heads round and make the coated the resos

Yeah I know what you mean about the tuning, though I have it in rock sizes. Not keen on coated heads though

Pearl, Zildjian and Remo. The only makes you'll ever need.
Read the damn FAQ Especially if you're a forum noob or you're still too incompetent do a link or a quote properly.

the forums arnt too bad, they just need good tuning and dampening both reso and batter heads a little, they work well tuned high i find ( i have a fusion kit ) since i wont be getting new kit for like a year, then i think im going to put some coated ambasadors on the batter and clear on the reso, or some G1 coated and clears

i really wanted one, but id rather have a birch kit, but the pacific birch kits are only like 400 which put me off abit, i didnt like the fact that they were that cheap, so im more inclined to get the Peal SBX as my next kit, it would be nice to have something nicer sounding than a pearl forum
