Hi everyone, it's been a while!

I've got a Sonor Force 2007 [despite my profile name] and I've fitted a cs dot, powerstroke III and emperors - and I love the sound. But only my 10" tom sounds as nice as I'd like it to. My 12, 14FT and 16FT all have issues. If I tune them a little higher than normal, I seem to get a sort of wheezy sound; too low and I get a very flappy head sound. This is really hard to explain, but the 14FT sometimes seems to 'dampen itself' ie after I make a stroke, it cuts out sharply.

I'm thinking maybe I've been a bit careless in the 1st stages of tuning the heads and they've not seated right on the bearing edge. Any other suggestions of what it could be?

Thanks alot, Mike

What heads are you using for the reso's? If your'e using coated reso's this could be the cause, also, you might try tweaking the reso's up until you can just indent them with your fingertip without too much pressure, then use your batter to tune the shell in, some kits just dont suit the heads on them, iv'e spent loads of dosh on unsuitable heads until i discovered Evans EC2's, i use Evans G1's as reso's,, my toms sound mint now, i use the Evans power center reverse dot snare batter and Evans Hazy reso,,

Thanks for your reply,

I'm using clear Emperors [batters] and clear Ambassadors [reso's], Coated CS dot with hazy ambassador snare side on the snare. I've looked at the remo/evans comparison chart, and I'm using practically the same heads as you except for the tom batters - your using what would be a Remo pinstripe. Does anyone else think I should try switching to pinnies?

Hello
Seems you are haveing a few problems,
try starting tuning your kit from the floor tom back,
dont forget to put pressure on the centre of your batter head to bed the drum head ,
tune top and bottom skin open, then take back batter head to your sound,
