Thinking of doing a head change,i usually use clear emperors but thinking of giving some coated emperors a try,what do you guys normally use.

I used to use clear on batter and on the reso, but then about 2 years ago went to using coated on the toms, and more recntly use a clear on my snare.
I might go back to clear as i prefer the slappier cutting sound, the coated seem to have alot more tone and a bit muffled sounded. Although they have less of the muffled effect on maple toms, they control them quite nicely

might just get a set of coated and try them,must admit though i like the sound the clear heads give.

Hello Tama, its a tricky one as its all personal taste, I usually just go with what I know best, which is clear for the toms and coated for the snare. I also like a bit of slap to my toms, having coated heads will give your toms a more warmer sound, if you have the spare cash you may aswell give the coated a go  |
